Columbia County Sheriff candidate questionnaires
Dan Garrigan, Brian Landers and incumbent Dennis Richards - all Republicans - will face off in the Sept. 14 partisan primary for Columbia County Sheriff.

The winner of the primary is all but assured victory in the Nov. 2 general election, as no Democratic candidates are running.

Buying local more important than ever
As I watch the recent egg recall unfold, I'm struck not by how unusual food recalls are, but rather by how commonplace and every day they are. One day it's eggs, the next day ground beef and the next day spinach. Pick your pathogen- E.coli, salmonella, listeria, etc.
